This year's 2010 Christmas in the Ligonier Valley ornament is special as it commemorates the Grand Reopening of the Darlington Station building.

A different landmark is featured each year. We are pleased to showcase the Darlington Train Station. The Ligonier Valley Rail Road Association has done a superb job of preserving, conserving, collecting memorabilia and educating the public about the history of the Darlington Station and railroading in the Ligonier Valley. The restoration of the station began in the fall of 2006 and now stands complete with their Grand Re-opening in May, 2010. The LVRR connected Ligonier Valley with the rest of the world via the Pennsylvania RR at Latrobe, Pennsylvania. It also connected the rest of the world with Pennsylvania’s Mountain Playground,

Great family video!

The Day The President
Came To Town

This DVD video documents the many festivities that surrounded the 200th birthday of Ligonier in September of 1958. The celebration peaked when President Dwight D. Eisenhower made a visit to Fort Ligonier. The video is in two parts including a film record from 1958 of the week's festivities. There is also a documentary released in 1990 which includes interviews with the organizers of the celebration as well as new and old footage of Ligonier. This is definitely fun for the whole family!
